To ensure we continue providing the highest quality facilities, the City of Sydney will be carrying out essential maintenance on the 50 metre pool at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, which will require a temporary closure from Monday 7 July for approximately two weeks.
These important upgrades are crucial for maintaining the long-term safety, performance, and quality of our centre, and will include:
Replacement of sand filters
Upgrades to plant room equipment
Upgrades to the Building Management System (BMS)
What you need to know
The rest of the centre, including all other pools and facilities, will remain open as usual throughout this period.
Members and casual visitors are welcome to use any of the other City of Sydney aquatic and fitness centres while the 50m pool is temporarily unavailable.
Members may choose to pause their membership during the temporary closure without it affecting their usual suspension allowance.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve your experience.
Our team will be available in-centre to answer any questions, or you can contact our Help Desk on or send an email to for assistance.
