Supervision of children

Keep Watch at Public Pools Program

Our centres are partnered with Royal Life Saving's “Keep Watch at Public Pools Program” to protect and safeguard children and young people, so they can swim safely and are supervised at all times.

For more information, visit the Royal Life Saving Australia website before your next swim to better understand your role in the active supervision of your child or family member.

  • 0 to 5 year olds and non-swimmers

Children must be accompanied into the centre, and supervised in the pool within arm's reach. Maximum one parent/guardian to two children.

  • 6 to 10 year olds and weak swimmers

Children must be accompanied into the centre, and supervised by maintaining visual contact with the child at all times. Maximum one parent/guardian to four children.

  • 11 to 14 year olds

Parents must maintain visual contact at all times.

  • All of the time

You should never leave your child alone in the water, nor should they be left in the care of an older child or with the assumption that your responsibility diminishes due to the presence of lifeguards.

Please note children 11 years and over may be non-swimmers or weak swimmers, and parental supervision should not be restricted by age in these circumstances.
