We were delighted to meet with Sue and her 11 year old son Rory who has been attending Learn to Swim at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre since he was 8 months old.
What does Rory enjoy most about swimming at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre?
S: "We love the centre - the instructors are very engaging and consistent. There is a pool for every age and swimming ability.
"Rory loves the big pool and how he can use different areas of the pool during the lessons."
What is Rory's favourite area to swim in?
S: "He especially loves the deep end of the pool as he is now learning to dive and tumble turn
We also wanted to know why it was important to have kids enrolled in a Learn to Swim program.
S: "By starting at a very young age, Rory has now great confidence in the water
"The instructors leave no stone unturned - they teach him every swimming style and survival technique. Plus we has a heap of fun during the process.
What improvements have you seen?
"Rory can swim every stroke and is not scared of trying new things.
"He can swim a kilometre and is so proud of this accomplishment!"
What would you tell parents who are considering learn to swim lessons for their kids?
S: "Don't hesitate to book your child into swim lessons. It is a skill they will have for the rest of their lives. It will also ensure they are safe in the water and you can't put a price on this."
