Group Exercise Class Descriptions
The following descriptions provide a summary of all classes and programs offered across all centres. The group exercise timetable and scheduled classes vary per centre.
Aqua
Aqua HIIT
This high intensity aqua class is designed to get the heart pumping and the muscles engaged.
Deep Aqua
A full body workout, which combines cardiovascular, muscle conditioning and interval training from the deep end, with buoyancy belts provided. This is suited to experienced participants, and can increase range of motion and non-impacting movements.
Shallow Aqua
Done in shallow water, this program uses water resistance to increase cardiovascular fitness as well as muscular strength and endurance.
Warm Aqua
Warm water exercises designed to improve muscular strength, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility in an environment that has minimal impact on the joints.
Swimfit
A non-competitive fitness program designed for swimmers who want to develop their fitness level. Swimmers will generally swim between 1,500m and 3,000m per session.
Aqua Zumba
A fun, low-impact water-based workout that combines traditional Zumba dance moves with resistance and buoyancy of water.
GOLD (over 55's classes)
GOLD Balance
Involves a range of exercises that improve your stability focusing on legs and core muscles.
GOLD Circuit
For those seeking a well-rounded and enjoyable exercise experience. It offers a variety of low-impact exercises, incorporating strength training, balance drills, and cardiovascular activities.
GOLD Pilates
Inspired by calisthenics, yoga and ballet, Pilates lengthens and stretches all the major muscle groups in the body. It improves flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness.
GOLD Stretch
Set aside dedicated time to stretch your muscles, and place an emphasis on more gentle, restorative exercises.
GOLD Strength
Have fun and move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living.
GOLD Step & Tone
Following “Step” cardio session, varied upper and lower body toning exercises are incorporated using the body bar or free weights. Step aerobics help tone your glutes and legs, build your stamina and increase endurance.
GOLD Yoga
Low impact yoga class, focusing on breathing and meditation.
Zumba GOLD
Perfect for older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity. With choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination, be prepared to leave empowered and feeling strong.
GOLD Stretch and Tone
A low-impact workout for over 55's that tones muscles, boosts flexibility, and relieves stress. It reduces injury risk by increasing your range of motion.
GOLD Dance Fit
A fun, high-energy workout combining dance and music. This cardio and interval training class features upbeat tunes and dance styles like Modern, Hip Hop, Latin, and more, with both low and high-impact routines for a full-body workout.
Cardio
Boxing
A 45-minute-long structured class in three “rounds”. Includes an intense cardio warm-up, boxing with intervals of bodyweight exercises and core work.
Dance Fit
A high-energy workout that blends dance and music into a cardio and interval training blast. Enjoy uplifting tunes and diverse styles like Modern, Musical, Hip Hop, and Latin Dance. With both low and high-impact routines, you’ll get your whole body moving and grooving.
Freestyle Step
Combines upper and lower body toning exercises using a body bar or free weights. It also includes simple step‑based movements to help strengthen your glutes and legs, builds stamina and improves overall endurance.
Les Mills BODYATTACK
A high-energy fitness class with moves that cater for total beginners to total addicts. It combines athletic moves like running, lunging, and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. Push your limits, burn up to 730 calories, and finish with a strong sense of accomplishment.
Les Mills BODYCOMBAT
Punch and kick your way to your fitness goals. This high-energy, martial-arts-inspired workout is non-contact and easy to follow. Your instructor will push you to intensify your efforts and motivate you through every round. Expect to release stress and burn up to 740 calories.
Les Mills DANCE
This 45-minute high-energy class features 10 electrifying tracks, crafted by dancers and inspired by global dance styles. Experience innovative moves that sync perfectly with diverse beats, delivering a dance experience like no other.
Les Mills RPM
A high-energy indoor cycling workout where you set the pace. Fun and low-impact, it can burn up to 675 calories per session. With your instructor guiding you through hill climbs, sprints, and flat rides, you’ll push your limits, enhance your cardio fitness, and stay motivated with the group.
Les Mills SPRINT
A 30-minute HIIT workout on an indoor bike designed for fast, intense results. This high-intensity, low-impact session pushes your limits and keeps burning calories long after you finish.
Run Club
This outdoor running class is designed for all abilities. It combines coached sessions with a supportive group environment to help you build endurance, improve technique and stay motivated. The class is currently available at Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre.
Spin
An indoor freestyle cycling workout, designed for all ages and fitness levels. Spin offers a challenging ride with fun energising music as selected by the instructor, meaning each class can be different.
Zumba
Experience a calorie-burning dance party with a mix of low and high-intensity moves. This total workout hits cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility, leaving you energised every time.
Zumba GOLD
A Zumba-based class for older adults and seniors, with a low to medium intensity. It that involves dance and aerobic movements to Latin and international music.
GOLD Dance Fit
A fun, high-energy workout combining dance and music. This cardio and interval training class features upbeat tunes and dance styles like Modern, Hip Hop, Latin, and more, with both low and high-impact routines for a full-body workout.
Wellness
Barre
With high-reps and low-impact movements, barre challenges anyone looking to fine-tune their muscles. No ballet experience required.
Hatha Yoga
A set of exercises to open the many energy channels of the body. Hatha creates balance of strength and flexibility by balancing the effort and surrender of each position.
Vinyasa Yoga
A style of yoga stringing postures together from one move to another. The instructor will guide you through seamless transitions while focusing on breathing. No two class are alike.
Yin Yoga
A slow-paced practice that targets deep connective tissues, improving flexibility and joint mobility. It opens your heart, calms your nervous system and focuses on long-held, passive poses to promote relaxation, mindfulness, and deep release.
Mat Pilates
Pilates combines over 500 exercises inspired by calisthenics, yoga, and ballet. It boosts flexibility, strength, balance, and body awareness.
Les Mills SHAPES
A low impact class which combines the best of Pilates, barre, and power yoga. Tone and fortify all your major muscle groups, enhance your posture, and boost your flexibility.
Les Mills BODYBALANCE
A yoga-based class that strengthens your body and calms your mind. Stretch, breathe, and flow through simple moves with elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Breathing control is part of all exercises, and options will be available for beginners.
Tai Chi
An ancient Chinese practice that combines slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and deep breathing. It develops as a martial art and has evolved into a popular form of exercise focused on promoting overall health and wellbeing.
Stretch
A stretching and flexibility class focusing on static and dynamic stretches, yoga, and Pilates-inspired moves. Led by an instructor or at your own pace, depending on the format.

Reformer
Beginner
You'll learn the fundamental Pilates principles for correct technique. A great place to start if you are new or have injuries or limited ranges of movement.
Open
If you've completed a number of beginner level classes and are now looking for more of a challenge. A complex set of sequences that exercises the mind as well as the body, concentrating on breathing, smoothness of movement, and the targeting of specific muscle groups.
Advanced
This challenging and dynamic workout uses specialised equipment and advanced moves to refine precision, strength, and flexibility through intricate Reformer exercises.
Athletic
A fast-paced, more energetic Reformer set, using heavier strength exercises and combining elements of Cardio with the fundamental principles.
Resistance
Build and Burn
A functional strength class that focuses on controlled, powerful movements using a mix of equipment. You’ll lift strong, feel the burn and add short bursts of cardio to raise your heart rate. Each session is designed to build strength and steadily improve your fitness.
Strength Mode
This class builds strong, controlled lifts and fast, functional movements. You’ll train your upper and lower body to improve full‑body strength and power. Our trainers will guide you in choosing the right weights and help build your confidence on the gym floor.
Power Up
Lift your heart rate and build explosive strength with powerful cardio bursts and controlled strength work. Body‑weight challenges keep you engaged, with quick, sharp efforts that push you further each session.
ABT (Abs, Butts, Thighs)
Work on strengthening your abs, butts and thighs. A combination of strength-enhancing and muscle-toning exercises.
Bootcamp
Bootcamp are typically full-body workouts with a focus on both strength and cardio endurance. Sessions often involve interval or circuit training with an aim for high calories burned while performing total body training moves.
GOLD Strength
Have fun and move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living.
Les Mills BODYPUMP
The original barbell class strengthens your entire body. This high energy workout challenges all the major muscle groups using the best weighted exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Get the results you came for and fast.
Les Mills BODYPUMP HEAVY
An advanced strength class that focuses on tempo‑based weightlifting. It uses heavier loads and lower repetitions to help you build lean muscle and increase overall strength.
Les Mills CORE
This is the ultimate workout for incredible core definition and sports performance. This class is all about building strength, stability and endurance in the muscles that support your core, helping you improve your functional strength and assist in injury prevention.
Les Mills STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT
A comprehensive group training workout that combines slow and controlled movements, functional exercises, and dynamic core training to enhance strength, power, and athleticism.
