Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool will reopen from 6am on Monday 1 September, marking the start of the summer swim season.

Opening hours:

Monday to Sunday: 6am to 8pm
Public holidays: 7am to 7pm (unless otherwise advised)

This follows a closure for critical maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. These works addressed aging systems and prepared the facility for long-term community use. The reopening means Sydneysiders and visitors can once again enjoy this harbourside venue to the end of April 2026, when it closes for its usual winter break.

Lap swimming

Lap swimming will be available from reopening day, with real-time lane availability published on our online lane availability tool. You can check real-time updates to plan your swim in advance. We encourage you to explore the tool for full pool views and live availability.

Improvements

Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool has undergone significant structural and behind-the-scenes upgrades:

• New tiling and waterproof membranes in both pools

• Refurbished pool deck and grandstand seating

• A new lift for improved accessibility

• Plant room improvements

• Replacement of gas boilers with efficient, electric heat pumps for more consistent and sustainable heating

All major works will be completed before reopening. The pools will be refilled and fully tested throughout August to ensure a smooth and safe launch.

You’ll notice refreshed features such as new pool tiles and updated deck areas, but the most important changes are under the surface. These upgrades provide a more comfortable, safe, and sustainable swimming experience.

Memberships

If you remained an active 360 member or visit pass holder during the closure, you will be able to access Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool from opening day in-line with your 360 membership benefits.*

If you placed a long-term suspension on your membership for the duration of the closure, your membership benefits and direct debits will automatically resume from re-opening, and you will receive communication from us regarding the re-opening.

Learn to Swim

Our Learn to Swim program will return from October. Enrolments will open in early September, giving families time to secure a spot. The program includes classes for children aged 6 months and older, with progression-based levels taught by accredited instructors in a safe and supportive environment.

Group exercise classes

Group exercise classes will return at Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool from Tuesday 16 September.

Here’s what’s on offer:

Shallow Aqua – Tuesdays at 9am and Saturdays at 10am
Mat Pilates – Tuesdays at 8am
Vinyasa Yoga – Saturdays at 9am

Bookings will open 72 hours in advance in line with our group booking policy.

Pool facilities

All standard customer amenities, including hot showers, lockers, toilets, accessible change rooms and family-friendly facilities, will open from 1 September. We’ve taken care to ensure these spaces are ready to support a safe and comfortable return to the venue.
