NAIDOC Week 2025: The Next Generation – Strength, Vision & Legacy
This year marks 50 years of recognising and celebrating the enduring culture, strength, and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
The 2025 NAIDOC Week theme, ‘The Next Generation – Strength, Vision and Legacy’, honours the wisdom and legacy of Elders and ancestors, while looking ahead to a future shaped by young leaders — guided by community values and cultural heritage.
At City of Sydney Leisure, we are proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week from 6 to 13 July and acknowledge the ongoing contributions, culture, and resilience of First Nations People, past, present, and emerging.
Throughout the week, a variety of community-led events and celebrations will take place across the local area. Our aquatic and fitness centres are honoured to be involved, supporting and participating in several initiatives.
On Thursday 3 July, we hosted a Dreamtime Swim event at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre. Families gathered for a Dreamtime story session, followed by a fun and inclusive swim class for children and their parents.

We’re also supporting other NAIDOC Week activities, including:
- A community sports outreach program
- Engagement with the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) and their NAIDOC Week celebrations
We warmly invite all members and the wider community to join us in recognising NAIDOC Week, deepening their understanding of First Nations culture, and celebrating the strength and vision of the next generation of leaders.
