We are committed to maintaining and improving our facilities to ensure the best experience for our members and visitors.

Planned works will be taking place at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre from mid-February through to mid-May 2026 as part of essential infrastructure improvements. Some works will be undertaken overnight to minimise disruption during staffed hours.

There will be no full closures, however, some temporary changes will be in place during this period.

Mid-February to late February (50m pool and ramp works)

During this stage of the works, the following will be in place:

• Scaffolding at either end of the 50m pool

• Temporary changes to access around the pool

• Exclusion zones at times for safety

• Periods of restricted ramp access to the 50m pool, due to reduced width

• Temporary impacts to amenities, including limited access to some bathrooms or locker areas at times, alternative bathroom and lockers bays in the centre are still accessible

Ramp access to 50m pool

The ramp will remain available throughout the works. However, during parts of this period the width will be slightly reduced. As a result, some users who require the full ramp width, including those using some wheelchairs or walking aids, may be unable to access the 50m pool during these periods. Our team will be available in-centre to assist and provide guidance on alternative options where possible.

Members and visitors who require additional space or assistance, are encouraged to speak with our team before your visit.

Late February to late March (reception area)

Temporary changes will apply around the reception area. During this period:

• Reception access via a designated walkway only

• Seating near the reception area temporarily unavailable

• Merchandise will continue to be available for purchase at reception, however, the display shop will be temporarily unavailable

Mid-February to mid-May (ongoing works period)

Across the broader works period, you may also notice:

• Exclusion zones will be in place at times for safety

• Periods of noise, dust or visual disruption

The pools and gym will remain open and available for use throughout this period. Please follow the in-centre signage and guidance from our team, as impacts may vary day-to-day.
