Close-up of the indoor pool at Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre

Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre is a hub for the local community, serving diverse purposes to meet their recreational and fitness goals.

The water space allocation framework is designed to guarantee equitable access for all patrons.

Lap Swimmers:

  • Our 50m pool can be divided into swimming lanes of either 25m or 50m. We aim to ensure the availability of 4 lanes, providing a total of 200 meters of water space for the general public during most times.

  • Our 25m pool consists of 8 swimming lanes. We aim to ensure the availability of 3 lanes for the general public during most times.

  • There may be exceptions when fewer than 4 lanes are available in the 50m pool or 3 lanes in the 25m pool. These exceptions include, but are not limited to, school swimming carnivals, City of Sydney Aquatic Club carnivals and local aquatic sports bookings, such as water polo and underwater hockey.

  • In the event of a significant reduction in lane availability, patrons will be given 10 days’ notice of the upcoming changes. Information will be communicated via our website, electronic newsletter, and social media channels.

Up-to-date lane availability can always be found on the lane availability page.

Hydrotherapy Pool:

  • The hydrotherapy pool is closed during scheduled program hours.

Lap Lane Etiquette:

Signage is positioned at the end of each lap lane indicating the appropriate use for swimmers in that lane.

  • Recreation Lanes

Are for walking, aqua jogging and gentle exercise, not for lap swimming.

  • Slow lanes

Are for continuous lap swimming (any stroke permitted but must be continuous).

  • Medium lanes

Are for competitive strokes only (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke).

  • Fast lanes

Are for competitive strokes only (less than 50 seconds a lap).
