These planned works will maintain pool infrastructure, replace ageing assets and ensure the centre continues to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our community.
The City of Sydney is committed to tackling climate change and cutting carbon emissions, and we’re transitioning away from the use of polluting fossil fuels at our public facilities. Efficient electric heat pumps will replace the ageing gas pool and shower heating equipment.
Other works include repairs of pool infrastructure, including the pool liner, handrail, gutters, lane markings and other essential maintenance.
We understand these works may impact your routine, and we’re committed to providing alternative options where possible to ensure you can continue your health and wellbeing activities during this time.
During the temporary closure period, 360 Active members will be granted temporary access to , and in addition to continued access to and per corresponding membership benefits*.
Alternatively, members may request an extended suspension for the duration of the impacted period. Suspensions during this period will not count towards the member's allowable suspension time.

Hirers and third-party programs
Our team will work with regular centre hirers to coordinate alternative lane space options at our other pools for continuation of program delivery.
Participants should seek confirmation of program changes from the organisation delivering the activity.
Learn to Swim program
Existing adult swimming lessons will continue during the temporary closure, and will be relocated to Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool.
In most instances, participants will retain their existing lesson day, time, class level and instructor. Participants will receive direct communication outlining their adjusted lesson arrangements prior to the temporary closure.
If the adjusted lesson arrangement is not suitable, and alternative day, time and location may be subject to availability.
The temporary relocation of Learn to Swim lessons will result in some changes to public lane availability at Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool. Please see the Public lane availability at Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool section below for further information.

The learn to swim program runs all-year-round at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Cook + Phillip Park Pool, and seasonally at Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool.

Swimming lessons, including the seasonal children’s program, will re-commence at Prince Alfred Park Pool when the centre re-opens in November.
Aqua aerobics
During the temporary closure, 360 Active members will have temporary access to Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre, and Cook + Phillip Park Pool, in addition to the regular membership benefits.
This provides access to more than 40 additional aqua fitness classes each week, including Aqua Zumba.
The Prince Alfred Park Pool 10am Aqua class will be temporarily relocated to Victoria Park Pool and will run at 10:15am from Friday 18 September 2026 to Friday 13 November 2026.
Public lane availability at Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool
To support the temporary relocation of Learn to Swim lessons during the closure period, some lane allocations at Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool may be adjusted at certain times.
During the periods listed below, recreational swimmers may experience reduced lane availability, with three public lanes available instead of the usual four, as one lane will be allocated to the Learn to Swim program. While lane availability may vary from day to day, customers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider visiting at alternative times or other centres if they prefer greater lane availability.

During these times, public lane availability may be reduced compared with normal operations. We appreciate your understanding as we accommodate Learn to Swim participants during the temporary closure period.
