As we head into the warmer months and start dipping our toes back into the water, residents of Surry Hills and Ultimo can rejoice with the announcement that Prince Alfred Park Pool and Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre have been ranked equal first in the NSW industry for their dedication to aquatic safety.
In the latest Royal Life Saving NSW Benchmark Report on Aquatic Facility Safety Assessments for 2023/24, both centres achieved an impressive safety score of 98%.
Mike Howley, Centre Manager at PAPP said, “Achieving a 98% aquatic safety score is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Their commitment to maintaining a safe environment has been recognised and I am proud of their accomplishment.”
Isabella Clifton Centre Manager at ITAC said, “Reaching a 98% safety score is a significant achievement that reflects the dedication and hard work of our entire team. We are thrilled that our commitment to providing a safe environment has been recognised by Royal Life Saving NSW.”
Both managers emphasised that while these accolades are significant, the focus remains on continuous improvement.
“We are committed to maintaining high safety standards and encourage our community to be proactive in water safety by supervising children, following our centre’s rules and participating in swimming lessons as needed,” Clifton added.
