We’re undertaking significant remedial works including an upgrade of the air conditioning system and waterproofing

We’re undertaking significant remedial works at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre including an upgrade of the air conditioning system and waterproofing. Works will commence from Monday 17 March 2025.

The centre will remain open throughout this period, and these works will be carried out in a staged approach to minimise disruption where possible. The 12-week project is anticipated to be completed in mid-June.

Fitness Centre

From Wednesday 26 March, the upgrade of the air conditioning system will commence having impact on fitness facilities.

During this period;

  • The gym will remain open; however, some equipment, areas or spaces may be temporarily unavailable as works progress

  • Dry group exercise classes at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre will be impacted from Wednesday 26 March onward

    • The last day of spin classes prior to works commencing will be Tuesday 25 March

    • The last day of group exercise classes held in the studio and gym floor will be Sunday 30 March

    • Aqua aerobics classes will continue per the regular timetable for the duration of the works

  • Additional dry group exercise classes will be added to Victoria Park Pool, commencing from Monday 31 March. To view the updated group exercise timetable at Victoria Park Pool, click here. The revised timetable will also be published on the Group Exercise page on Friday 28 March.

The works impacting the gym and dry group fitness classes have an expected duration of approximately seven weeks with completion in mid-June.

Member options and alternative spaces

We understand these works may impact your routine, and we’re committed to providing alternative options to ensure you can continue your fitness activities during this time.

Membership Access & Suspensions
360 Members, visit pass holders and casual visitors can continue to access other City of Sydney pools and gyms, including Cook + Phillip Park Pool, Gunyama Park Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Prince Alfred Park Pool and Victoria Park Pool.

Alternatively, members may request an extended membership suspension for the duration of the impacted period. Suspensions during this period will not count towards the member's allowable suspension time.
